Code of Conduct
Ullr Intelligence Ltd is committed to the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct. This Code sets out the principles that govern every engagement we undertake. Our practices align with the principles of the ICO-approved Association of British Investigators (ABI) UK GDPR Code of Conduct for Investigative & Litigation Support Services.
1. Lawful and ethical methods
We use only methods that are lawful, ethical and proportionate. We comply with all applicable law, including UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. We will not engage in deception, harassment, unlawful surveillance or any activity that breaches the law or a person’s legal rights.
2. Integrity and honesty
We act with honesty, fairness and impartiality. We do not knowingly make false or misleading statements, and we report our findings truthfully — including their limitations. We do not guarantee specific outcomes; our fees reflect time and expertise, not results.
3. Confidentiality
We protect client information and investigation findings at all times. We disclose information only with proper authorisation, where required by law, or to professional advisers and sub-contractors bound by equivalent confidentiality obligations. Information is stored securely and destroyed in line with our retention policy.
4. Respect for privacy and individual rights
We process personal data only where there is a clear lawful basis, fairly, transparently and proportionately. We apply data minimisation, collecting only what a matter genuinely requires, and we respect the rights of data subjects under UK data-protection law.
5. Competence and due care
We accept only instructions we are competent to deliver, and we carry them out with diligence, skill and care. We maintain our professional knowledge and keep up to date with relevant law and best practice.
6. Legitimate purpose and safeguarding
We qualify every enquiry to confirm a legitimate purpose before any work begins, and we complete a legitimate-interests and safeguarding assessment as a matter of course. Where a service requires it, we obtain written consent. We are alert to signs that a request could facilitate harm, and we will refuse work on that basis.
7. Conflicts of interest
We identify and avoid conflicts of interest. Where a conflict arises or becomes apparent, we will decline or withdraw from the engagement and act impartially throughout.
8. Declining improper instructions
We will decline or withdraw from any instruction that would require unlawful or unethical conduct, that lacks a legitimate basis, or that could be used to stalk, harass, intimidate or otherwise harm any person.
9. Accountability
We take responsibility for our work and welcome feedback. Concerns are handled fairly and promptly under our Complaints Procedure.
